Plastic window seal types

Plastic window seal types
A sealant is a required component of all window structures. It is an elastic, but strong enough, gasket that ensures a snug fit of the sashes to the frame.

What are window seals, and why do we need them?

Plastic window seals are special materials that help to keep air and moisture out of windows. They are installed between the window frame and the double glazing to keep air and moisture out of the room. They help to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature and shield against street noise. Sealers also aid in the prevention of fouling and wear on window frames.

Rubber seals or natural rubber seals

They are one of the most robust and long-lasting options. They are made of a material with high resistance to humidity. Rubber and natural rubber seals are flexible, allowing them to adapt to temperature changes and window frame deformations. As a result, they can be used in low and high-temperature environments, as well as in high-humidity areas, to provide air and moisture protection.

Seals made of silicone

Silicone seals are resistant to harsh environments and humidity, but they are less flexible and durable than polyurethane foam.

Polyethylene-filled seals

Filled polyethylene seals are another type of window seal used to keep air and moisture out of windows. They are made of polyethylene and contain a filling made of various materials such as polyurethane foam or polyurethane. This makes them more resilient and long-lasting than polyethylene seals alone, and it enables them to effectively protect windows from air and moisture. They can also have high tensile and bending resistance, which helps them adapt to temperature changes and deformations in window frames.

How to replace window seals?

The steps for replacing the seal are as follows:

  • Gather the tools and materials needed to replace the seal, including scissors, a small knife, stretching oil, and a new seal.
  • Remove the old seal from the window frame with scissors and a knife. Take care not to damage the window frame when removing it.
  • After removing the old seal, wipe the window frame with a dry cloth to remove the old seal's remnants and dirt.
  • Apply a small amount of stretching oil to the window frame to make installing the new seal easier.
  • Apply a new seal.

  • Rubber seals for plastic windows are widely available at ALP stores. If necessary, the company's employees replace gaskets (fasteners) under reasonable conditions and at reasonable prices.
